Gerald J. Shaffer, 88, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at The Courtyard at Seasons in Cincinnati, Ohio.He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in Agriculture and a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. Shaf was a WWII Army Captain. He was the owner of Shaffer Auction and Realty and often volunteered his services as an auctioneer for charitable events. Shaf farmed in Union County, Ky., and was involved with the Bourbon Livestock Commission Company. He and his wife, Anne, enjoyed vacationing in the Virgin Islands. Shaf was a member of East Side Christian Church, Kiwanis Club, and Water Island Civic Association.
Gerald is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Anne; sons, Lee Shaffer of Evansville, and Thomas Shaffer and wife, Joyce, of Sharonville, Ohio; daughter, Jane Lee and husband, Rex, of Loveland, Ohio; and grandchildren, Andrew Shaffer and Lauren Shaffer, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Benjamin Lee of Loveland, Ohio.
Services will be Friday, April 3, 2009, at 11 a.m. at East Side Christian Church, 2001 Bayard Park Drive, Evansville, with Reverend Linda Parker officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, April 3, 2009, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
